HISTORY AND CULTURE

Ronda

Ronda, a historic town in Malaga, is famous for its stunning location atop the El Tajo gorge, offering breathtaking views. The town's well-preserved architecture reflects its Roman and Moorish history, with iconic landmarks and three bridges, including the notable Puente Nuevo. Visitors should explore the Old Town Square, the bullring, and the 14th-century Mondragon Palace.

Baelo Claudia Tarifa

A trip to Baelo Claudia offers a fascinating glimpse into life in a Roman settlement. The site is remarkably well-preserved, allowing visitors to explore key features of this thriving city from the 2nd Century BC, which was inhabited until the 7th Century AD. Its uniqueness lies in the visible remnants of a Roman city, including the forum, temples, basilica, administrative buildings, market, theatre, baths, aqueducts, and city walls. Located near one of Tarifa’s most popular beaches, Playa de Bolonia, it makes for an excellent addition to your day trip to Tarifa. The site also boasts a fantastic visitor center, and every Wednesday at 12:00, a guided tour provides deeper insights into Roman life and the region's history.

Malaga’s Alcazaba and Roman Theatre

The Alcazaba is a fortress and palace in Malaga, often compared to a mini Alhambra. Located near the El Pimpi tapas bar and a well-preserved Roman Amphitheatre, it dates back to 1063. Visitors can explore its palace rooms, patios, gardens, and military defenses, all for an entrance fee of just €2.50. Don't miss the Roman theatre from the 1st Century AD and the visitor center for insights into Malaga's history. Afterward, enjoy a drink and tapas at El Pimpi while viewing photos of notable visitors.
